The United States dairy industry is becoming more confident as prices improve.
A US dairy analyst says the nation's slaughter programs are unlikely to be extended, and subsidies will soon be reviewed.
The US-sponsored three rounds of dairy herd culls, in an effort to reduce milk supply, and hopefully push up prices.
University of Wisconsin agricultural economist Brian Gould says US dairy prices have hit the bottom.
"Fortunately we're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel," he says.
"In the US, our prices, in terms of milk prices, seemed to bottom out around July of this year.
"The cash markets are improving over the last few months, and our future markets show an upward trend.
"They're not as high as we'd like to see, but there is a consistent upward trend."
